This course applies to educators and support staff working in education or children’s services who are required to respond to a first aid emergency.
It incorporates the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to infants, children and adults.
Relevant classroom training and assessment (with online pre-work or workbook)
This course provides the skills and knowledge required to provide first aid response, life support, management of casualty(s), the incident and other first aiders until the arrival of medical or other assistance.
+ Airway and breathing management
+ Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation techniques (CPR)
+ Automated External Defibrillation
+ Medical conditions including diabetes, epilepsy & convulsions
+ Infection control and First Aid for minor wounds
+ Risk management for asthma and anaphylaxis
+ Anaphylaxis emergency management
+ Asthma emergency management
+ Control of major external bleeding and shock
+ Management of near drowning
+ Hyperthermia and hypothermia
+ Burns and electric shock
+ Eye and soft tissue injuries
+ Venomous bites and stings
+ Fractures and spinal injuries
+ Head, chest and abdominal injuries
+ Assessment of the sick and injured
+ Recording vital signs
+ Communicating details of an incident
+ Reporting requirements in education and children’s services
+ Debriefing and evaluation of response to critical incidents Award Issued
A nationally-recognized Statement of Attainment will be issued to all successful participants.

48 hours notification of a cancellation or reschedule is required for course bookings. Citadel First Aid reserves the right to charge a 100% cancellation fee and a reschedule fee of $20 to cover administration & courier costs incurred. There is a $5.00 processing fee added, to cover credit card fees.
